Zoo Identity Design

I love animals and nature.

The Challenge
A great opportunity for me to create the entire visual identity design, from logo design, all illustrations, motion graphics, and out-of-home ads for the Zoo project during my time at Pentagram Design.

The Research
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is a zoo in Roeding Park in Fresno, California covering 39 acres and housing over 190 species. Its attractions include Stingray Bay, Dino Dig, Valley Farm, Sea Lion Cove, African Adventure, and Ross Laird's Winged Wonders Bird Show. With the team, we traveled to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo to do the initial research on the environment, original design, and lovely animals.

The Solution
The original logo, which is a Tiger, is already recognized by nearby residents. Therefore, there's no reason to completely change it.

The concept of a circle represents the geolocation of the zoo, which is the intersection point of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

From the tiger logo and all the animal illustrations, I built a coherent visual style based on a simple coherence circle form, and also motion graphics/video editing using AE.

Animal-based identity
I have included another example of animal-based identity design here below for the bank identity, the main character is the beaver.

Another animal-based identity
I have included another example from animal-based identity design here for the bank identity, the main character is the beaver.

Beavers are fascinating creatures known for their industrious behavior, particularly their construction of dams and lodges using branches, mud, and other materials. Interestingly, this behavior can be metaphorically connected to bank activity in Building Infrastructure, Creating Value and Long-term Planning.
